CAS Prof reads in Psychology Conference

Vanessa Laura S. Arcilla, a College of Arts and Sciences Department professor under the Area of Psychology, attended the 11th Biennial Conference of Asian Association of Social Psychology, which coincides with the 52nd Annual Convention of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP), happening at Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City from August 19 to 22. Her paper entitled: “Understanding the Need to be Perfect and the Need to Appear Perfect” has been accepted for presentation in said convention jointly hosted by the PAP and the University of San Carlos. This Convention seeks to be a venue for exchange of best practices and cutting edge research in Psychology in Asia with the theme: “Psychology and Asian Societies in the Midst of Change.“ The conference also features international speakers who are expected to present topics such as: Psychology of Poverty; Psychology of Collective Action, Justice, Leadership and Social Change; Psychology of Dictatorship and Democracy; among others. Aside from the keynote and plenary talks, the conference includes several symposia organized by various distinguished psychological scientists on issues and themes relevant to social change, particularly in the region. Parallel and poster sessions also showcase current work by researchers. Then the conference is also expected to feature learning sessions on cutting edge trends.
